SMEs are the main actors in the road transport sector. While some of them are clearly frontrunners when it comes to circularity, many still remain traditional SMEs with linear business models. Embracing the green transition provides new opportunities and challenges for traditional SMEs. They need information, guidance and technical assistance on how to embark on the sustainability journey.

This is why SMEunited and its member UETR started a cooperation with the EU LIFE Programme to gather a list of hands-on tips to facilitate the first steps of SMEs in the road transport sector towards becoming greener. These tips are enshrined in a leaflet which touches upon aspects such as operation, equipment, IT and maintenance.

A specific section showcases how companies can improve managing the end-of-life of vehicles as well as extend the life of parts in line with the circular economy.
