- CDP Ireland Network Webinar: Managing and Reporting Value Chain Emissions 29th Sept @1:30pm
This event will address the steps organisations can take to identify and reduce their Scope 3 emissions and it will include case studies from both Microsoft and Kelloggs. Given the ambitious global targets that are being set to reach "net zero", organisations are either initiating or stepping up their carbon commitment reductions. With most large companies already accounting and reporting on the emissions from their direct operations (scopes 1 and 2), they are now beginning to focus on their full range of corporate value chain and product emissions. Emissions from along the value chain (also known as Scope 3 emissions) often represent a company’s biggest greenhouse gas impact however they can be much harder to measure than those from a company's direct operations. Value chain emissions include all indirect emissions generated by the business such as purchased goods and services, investments, business travel, use of sold products, upstream and downstream transportation. - The EPA publishes Ireland’s National Waste Prevention Programme (NWPP) 2019 Annual Report
The National Waste Prevention Programme (NWPP), led by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is a Government of Ireland initiative funded by the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment (DCCAE). The NWPP 2019 annual report covers a period of intense change for Ireland as we move towards a low-carbon economy. The circular economy concept is gathering momentum, while consumers and businesses are engaging more than ever with the green agenda. The NWPP is responding to this increased interest through a range of major new initiatives including support for CIRCULÉIRE, the National Platform for Circular Manufacturing; enhanced activity on food waste prevention; and targeted innovation funding through the EPA’s Green Enterprise programme. CIRCULÉIRE is the first Irish public-private partnership that aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of Irish industry through the implementation of circular manufacturing methodologies and business models which transform waste into a resource. Scaling circularity in Ireland represents a significant opportunity for businesses to decouple economic growth from resource use – enabling new job creation and job retention, increasing competitive advantage and resilience to external supply-chain shocks. CIRCULÉIRE are proud to be collaborating with the EPA to support the delivery of Ireland’s National Waste Prevention Programme and the Government of Ireland’s Climate Action plan. Learn More
